Work Continues on the Former Restaurantosaurus Restaurant at Animal Kingdom

Last week, we reported work beginning around the former Restaurantosaurus restaurant in DinoLand U.S.A. Work continues as the area is reimagined into Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.

Construction Near Restaurantosaurus

Over the construction wall, we see several excavators, rocks, and upturned dirt. There are stacks of wood and some concrete blocks likely to be installed or moved in the coming days. Dust floating up above the wall indicates the active work being done by crews.

The Restaurantosaurus building looks the same as it did last week, with props such as the roof chairs and aluminum cans still in place. However, more construction materials and equipment have moved in around the building. There is also now a large hole in the dirt in front. Two excavators are parked in the area.

Walls are in place now in front of the former Dinosaur Treasures gift shop. Over the wall, we could see several crew members as well as some equipment and vehicles. It does not appear that any work has been done to the exterior of the former gift shop since we wrote about it last week.

The exterior of the forthcoming Encanto attraction building also appears roughly the same as it did last week.

Tropical Americas

Tropical Americas concept art for Disney's Animal Kingdom

Tropical Americas will include the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza. In the concept art above, the expansive hacienda on the right is Restaurantosaurus. In the upper right is the Indiana Jones attraction that will replace DINOSAUR. In the lower center is the carousel. And in the upper left is Casita, the facade of the Encanto ride, with the reimagined Dinosaur Treasures nearby.
