The playground in the World Discovery neighborhood at EPCOT has reopened after a short closure for refurbishment. The closure began in mid-January, though construction walls first went up in November 2025.
World Discovery Playground Reopens

The new blue fabric shade structures, which went up earlier this month, provide shade over some of the playground equipment. They are a bit like large, tall umbrellas. Previously, there was a shading element through two large metal triangles on the jungle gym; however, these fabric umbrellas have replaced them.
This is what that playground area used to look like:

Although the fabric umbrellas have replaced most of the metal shade structures, the rest of this playground equipment appears to still be in place.

New mulch and fresh artificial turf appear to have also been placed at the playground. The majority of the playground is artificial turf, though the area around the spring rider toys, seen above, is covered in a protective mulch.

In addition to the new turf, a bright “welcome” sign has been placed on the ground as well. It almost resembles a Disney World “First Visit” badge with its vibrant orange color scheme.
