Hopefully, the tale of Gertie’s tail can end on a good note, as the previously-missing appendage has been fixed (again).
Gertie’s Tail Gets Band-Aid

After we initially reported there was a a crack in Gertie the Dinosaur’s tail at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the broken tail fell off. Disney attempted to hide the missing piece with a couple of random boxes, but when that didn’t work they covered the tail in scrim and lowered the water levels to properly repair the tail.

Although the water level is still low, the tail has been reattached and looks much more permanent this time around. We expect water levels to increase in the coming days.
Check out some of our previous photos of Gertie’s tail tale:
Gertie is a life-size dinosaur-shaped building, home to Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction, which remains open and operating normally. The structure is based on Gertie the Dinosaur, a 1914 animated short film by Winsor McCay. Gertie was the first animated dinosaur and one of the first animated characters ever.
