While similar to that we hear in the current Journey Into Imagination attraction, the Figment voice is brand new. Dave Goelz narrated Figment starting in 2002, and before that, he was voiced by Corey Burton. Originally, Figment was voiced by Billy Barty. The new voice of the character is and A.J. LoCascio who has voiced him since his appearance in the Disney Speedstorm game.

Among other hidden details in the video clip are references to all versions of Journey in to Imagination, including the music for "One Little Spark." The song was written by the legendary Sherman Brothers and has become a cult classic.

The Cat and Bat blocks bring back a reference to version one of the attraction, where Figment would hold blocks that changed between the two words.

Other nods are the footprints that appear in the current attraction and at the exit.

The plasma ball has science written behind it, a reference to the science scene in the original version. Also behind the plasma ball are glass pyramids, a nod to the ride’s exterior facade.

A nod to another park icon, Orange Bird, is also found in the clip.

The short also lovingly references the Dream Mobile from the original Journey Into Imagination attraction in EPCOT. Read the full history of the attraction for an in-depth look at the different interactions and lore of the beloved purple dragon.

The video was originally set to release on Tuesday, March 3, 2026; however, it dropped early on March 1st. Figment celebrates his birthday on March 5.

How NOT to Draw is a series of Disney Channel shorts in which various animated characters come to life as a live-action animator is attempting to draw them.

There have been rumors and announcements suggesting a Figment TV series is in the works. In 2022, a Figment film was in development from Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures with Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (Pokémon Detective Pikachu) attached as writers. But Disney CEO Bob Iger ignored this potential film when asked about a Figment movie in early 2025 and said he would talk to Disney’s creative teams about a series or short-form videos.
