Completion of Disney’s ongoing work to widen World Drive and Floridian Way has been delayed. Construction of the three phase project has been ongoing for years and though phase three is underway, it now won’t be complete until late 2027.
Floridian Way Construction Delayed
In addition to road widening, the project includes three new traffic circles along Floridian Way between the Car Care Center and Maple Road to the west of Magic Kingdom. One traffic circle will be connected to an updated entrance to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. They will also serve the new roadway entrance of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Though originally set to be completed this September, funding availability led the final phase to be split into two. This along with other issues, including construction of the new Disney Vacation Club Island Tower next to the road in 2024, extended the project’s duration.
According to Central Florida Tourism Oversight District documents, the project’s new scheduled completion date is December 21, 2027.
