We reported on March 2 that not all of the gorillas were in public view at Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail due to a refurbishment of their habitat. On March 5, cast members confirmed the gorilla family is temporarily backstage. The bachelor males remain out in their separate space.

A scrim covers one window on the exterior of the family’s habitat. Reportedly, one of the gorillas was picking at a gasket between the glass panels and damaged it. The gorillas will remain backstage until this is repaired.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to several Lowland Gorillas. Last year, senior gorilla Gino passed away at age 44.

The Angola colobus monkey exhibit was also recently refurbished, with the monkeys returning in late February.
