After fans got a preview of Cyclops a.k.a. Scott Summers in an Avengers: Doomsday teaser, James Marsden is talking about his new comics-accurate costume.
James Marsden Talks Cyclops Costume

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Marsden addressed having to lie to Kimmel about his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. But he can open up now that Disney and Marvel have announced the return of X-Men actors and released a teaser featuring him as Cyclops, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
Kimmel asked if Marsden had concerns about the costume and the actor said, “Yeah, of course! ‘Would I fit in it? What would it look like?’ I can tell everybody now ’cause everyone’s seen it, but it’s the original X-Men Cyclops costume from the comics, which is pretty cool.”
“The first movies, we were just in black leather,” Marsden said of the early 2000s X-Men films. “We were very tight, very restrictive. We couldn’t move around.”
He recalled filming with Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) on the first day. “We had to jump over a little retaining wall outside the Statue of Liberty and we were both tripping over it.” He joked that they thought they would be fired. “You just don’t feel like a superhero in these.”
But to put on the new costume “felt very cool, I felt very proud.”
He added, “Then the visor goes on and I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I can’t see again.'” He said there are multiple visors, one that lights up and one that has slight visibility through a slit.

Marsden debuted as Cyclops in X-Men (2000), reprising the role in sequels X2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). He had a cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Along with Stewart and McKellen, X-Men actors returning for Doomsday include Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy / Beast, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkhölme / Mystique.
