In a statement that seems to confirm decades of fan speculation, Miley Cyrus has revealed new info on her relationship with the Sprouse twins.
Miley Opens Up About Secret Dating History
During the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which premiered today on Disney+, Miley Cyrus casually revealed new details on her relationship with fellow Disney Channel star Dylan Sprouse. Cyrus was the star of the Hannah Montana series, in the role of Miley Stewart, a teenage girl living a double life as pop star Hannah Montana.
According to Cyrus, the two young stars enjoyed time together off-set while both were rising to fame on the network in their respective series, Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
In the 20th anniversary special, Cyrus described Dylan Sprouse as both a former boyfriend and an early crush, confirming a piece of fan speculation from the height of the Disney Channel era. “Dylan Sprouse was my boyfriend … I think he was the cutest … Dylan was my crush,” she said. “Their dad would take us to sushi. I was into the whole culture, and it was a two-for-one. Like, bring the brother. Hello!”
All three Disney Channel stars were about the same age, sixteen, by the time Hannah Montana: The Movie premiered in April 2009.
The special, hosted by Alex Cooper of the Call Her Daddy podcast, features an interview with Cyrus, musical performances, and other appearances and retrospectives tied to the legacy of the series.
A variety of merchandise is also available online to celebrate the Hannah Montana anniversary.
Since her rise to stardom through Hannah Montana, Cyrus has built a major music career and remained one of the most recognizable former Disney stars in entertainment.
Dylan Sprouse continues to work as an actor and has also been involved in broader business ventures, including a Brooklyn meadery. His twin brother, Cole Sprouse, also continued acting and became especially well known to a newer audience for playing Jughead Jones on Riverdale.
