Monorail Station Makeover Underway at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Visitors to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa may notice that the hotel’s monorail station and porte cochere is currently getting a makeover. We noticed crews at work beneath the station on a visit earlier today, March 19.

Monorail Station Refurb

The exterior wall facade beneath the station railings is partially covered in white tarps with metal scaffolding installed beneath. Crew members were on lifts doing work at the station today. As far as we know, the station is still operational.

A construction wall is placed in front of the area of the station that is being refurbished. The wall runs along about half of the exterior of the station.

It appears some of the column coverings have been removed, as seen above. Crews look like they are replacing the exterior facade of these columns, working from left to right if facing the porte cochere straight on.

We can see that several ceiling panels have also been removed, as shown above. There are temporary beams and scaffolds supporting the open ceiling sections as crew members work beneath them.
