More of the sidewalk near the Universal Studios Hollywood security entrance at CityWalk has been torn up.

As we reported last month, there is fencing and black scrim around a long stretch of sidewalk near the security entrance. At the time, we could see some pavement torn away behind the fencing.

Now there’s a significant trench running through the construction site. Paving stones have been removed, but some sit in the trench, which has a layer of water (and some trash) in it. The water is probably not purposeful, but from the weather and drainage.

One end of the trench is a few feet deep. There are piles of pavers — seemingly the ones that were recently removed. A large white pipe runs through the trench.

We don’t know the exact purpose of the construction work. Stay tuned for further updates.
