Scaffolding Rises Around Monstropolis Construction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Thanks to a bird’s-eye view from @bioreconstruct, we can tell just how much scaffolding is up surrounding the former Muppets Courtyard buildings in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Scaffolding around Monstropolis

More and more scaffolding is starting to rise around the former Muppet Courtyard and on what will likely be The Glob Theater, marked for the new land. New cutouts have appeared in the brick on the front and sides of the building that formerly housed  MuppetVision 3D. This is likely to make space for new theming elements to be added to the facade.

More and more scaffolding is starting to rise around the former Muppet Courtyard and on what will be The Glob Theater, marked for the new land. New cutouts have appeared in the brick on the front and sides of the building that formerly housed  MuppetVision 3D. This is likely to make space for new theming elements to be added to the facade.

The brick removal seems to correspond with a new marquee and decorations seen in Monstropolis concept art (see below). Tape and spray paint indicates future work that needs to be done on the facade.

The concept art shows green monster-inspired trim and decorations on the theater. New faux windows on the building make it look like the theater is up against a series of apartments, so “windows” will need to be added to the facade.

More scaffolding has been installed along the front of Gonzo’s Royal Flush, between the entrance and PizzeRizzo. Like the other buildings in Muppets Courtyard, Gonzo’s Royal Flush will be reimagined for the new land. It houses the area’s restrooms.

Although the pipes were removed over a month ago, they are part of Monstropolis concept art (below), but are green instead of silver. The window and wall behind the pipes also look different. It’s possible plans have changed, and the pipes won’t return or they needed to be temporarily removed for other changes and will be replaced.

With so much scaffolding up, we will likely start seeing even more big changes to the buildings soon.
