We first saw part of the retaining wall go up a few days ago. X user @bioreconstruct then shared aerial photos of the wall, which currently runs behind construction walls and scrim near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It’s expanding quickly, with even more now visible above construction walls.

Crew members were working on the tallest section of the wall Friday morning, March 20. A crane is being used to lower pieces of the wall into place. There are now dark structural elements on one side of the wall.

These elements create a frame that one crew member was actually inside. Another crew member was leaning over the concrete wall.

The wooden beams are a temporary framework to keep everything in place while construction continues.

The wall curves towards the Frontierland boardwalk, which will remain as part of Piston Peak. Construction walls will shift forward, however, for the demolition of the Big Al’s and Westward Ho kiosks.
