Animation Courtyard Partially Opened as Walls Come Down in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

A section of Animation Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has reopened as construction walls start to come down. Though most of the courtyard is still blocked from guests, there is now significantly more space next to the theater for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.”

Three new flowerbeds have been revealed close to the gift shop. Each one currently has a small tree but no other plants yet. The area has fresh gray pavement. A pair of construction boxes still sit next to the planters.

The columns in this area were also painted red, just like the columns around the theater’s queue.

For reference, above are photos of the courtyard now and what it looked like before closing last year.

On the other side of the remaining construction walls, taller trees are growing into the space. These will provide more shade to the courtyard, which will become the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard when it fully reopens.

On the facade of The Magic of Disney Animation, crew members were installing red curved plywood on the front of the entrance overhang.

The plywood is fire-retardant and will be covered by themed paneling later. It sits below the giant sorcerer hat.

Red stripes were added to the building over the past few days.
