Custom Cabinet Installed in EPCOT’s Mitsukoshi for Yoku Moku Confectioneries

Mitsukoshi in the Japan pavilion of EPCOT has a brand-new cabinet displaying Yoku Moku confectionery products. Though it may seem like a regular cabinet at first glance, it was custom created by a Japanese-American artist.

The cabinet is in the back room of Mitsukoshi, where guests can purchase Japanese snacks. Red and blue boxes of Yoku Moku rolled butter cookies are on the lower section. Open boxes displaying the cookies are in glass cases on the upper section.

The red boxes contain chocolate filled butter cookies. One 9.8 oz box is $37.95.

In the blue 7.2 oz boxes are standard rolled butter cookies for $34.95.

The artisans who crafted the display shared a behind-the-scenes look at its construction with WDWNT. San Diego-based artist Miki Iwasaki was commissioned to create the piece with the assistance of Jess Falstad as woodworker and installer.

As the plans show, the cabinet has doors on the back hiding storage for more sweets.

Mitsukoshi is a Japanese department store with locations worldwide, but the EPCOT store is the only location in the North America.
