Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro Named One of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026

Josh D’Amaro, The Walt Disney Company’s newest CEO, is among this year’s 100 most influential people, according to TIME magazine’s annual roundup.

TIME magazine’s annual list of its 100 Most Influential People is divided into categories, and new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro is among 13 people distinguished as “Pioneers.” Others profiled include Artemis II astronaut Reid Wiseman, activist Dolores Huerta, and influencer MrBeast.

The editorial for D’Amaro is written by his predecessor, Bob Iger, and reiterates his trust in the eighth leader of the Walt Disney Company. Iger praises the fresh CEO for his “deep appreciation for what Disney means to the world” and his understanding of the Disney values of “quality, attention to detail, and bold creativity.”

The piece comes a day after D’Amaro sent a memo to Disney employees informing them that 1,000 positions were being laid off, stating, “This is hard.” The cuts were deep: entire teams eliminated (including senior VPs and directors), and about 8% of the workforce at Marvel was let go.

Here’s the full text of Iger’s piece about D’Amaro:

I believe in the future of the Walt Disney Co. because I believe in Josh D’Amaro.

He has a deep appreciation for what Disney means to the world, and his wealth of knowledge about the company is bolstered by a strong and abiding respect for Disney fans worldwide. His ability to connect with people is one of his superpowers, and I know it will serve him well as the eighth CEO of the Walt Disney Co.

Josh fundamentally understands how quality, attention to detail, and bold creativity set Disney apart. He will certainly carry those values with him as he leads the company forward.

Josh also knows creativity is the fuel that has always powered Disney, and I am confident that under his leadership, creators and creative processes will endure
and thrive.

I couldn’t be happier for Josh, for the company, and for the millions and millions of Disney fans who love this place and expect it will continue as a beacon of happiness and joy to the world.
