Walt Disney World Mystery Pins Moved Behind Locks After Man Stole $900 Worth of Them

Walt Disney World has moved more pins behind locks after a Florida man stole over $900 worth of them in March. Guests can still grab most open edition pins themselves but have to ask cast members for help with mystery packs.

Locked Trading Pins

Walt Disney World has moved more pins behind locks after a Florida man stole over $900 worth of them in March.

We spotted the change in Discovery Trading Company at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and World of Disney at Disney Springs. Mystery boxes and bags now have red locks in front of them that only a cast member can open. There are one or two cast members stationed nearby with keys.

Walt Disney World has moved more pins behind locks after a Florida man stole over $900 worth of them in March.

Limited edition pins remain available at check-out counters as usual.

Cast members confirmed the change was prompted by a 27-year-old man stealing 50 Disney trading pins valued at approximately $922 from Disney Springs.

The man was arrested for grand theft, which is a third-degree felony, and taken to jail. The State Attorney’s Office confirmed to WDWNT that no charges had been filed against him. The man’s mother told WDWNT that he is mentally unwell and made a mistake.
