Crews have started a refurbishment of the giant “POP” sign outside Classic Hall at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Pop Century Sign Refurbishment

This sign is behind the lobby building, facing Hippy Dippy Pool. The nearby kiddie pool deck is also closed for refurbishment.

The usually bright orange sign has been partially sanded down to remove old paint. The outlines of paneling are more prominent. Some may be replaced as part of the construction work.

The white borders and blue edges are affected, too. A pair of crew members were on site, but the sign is not currently blocked off.

Plants were removed from the flowerbeds around the bases of the sign and a green barrier sits in front of the first “P.”

The backs of the letters have also been sanded, leaving some gray areas at the lower corners.
Below is what the sign usually looks like.

Last year, the Disney’s Pop Century Resort lobby was remodeled, including a new mural featuring Mickey and Friends. Rooms were also refreshed.
