Before Epic Universe opened, Universal said actual flying dragons would soar above guests in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. That may finally become a reality. Aerial photos by X user @bioreconstruct show a pair of flying dragon drones staged in a backstage area of Epic Universe, ready for flight.

Flying Dragons Finally Coming to Epic Universe

Bioreconstruct spotted two red and black dragons on a landing pad behind Isle of Berk, near the theater for “The Untrainable Dragon.” There were crew members actively working on the dragons during bio’s flyover.

These appear similar to the dragon drone spotted by WESH 2 News back in March 2025, before Epic Universe opened. They both appear to be Monstrous Nightmares. One was sitting on a cart, while the other had been removed from its cart.

The only time a flying dragon was seen above Isle of Berk was during IAAPA back in November.
