'Gatto' and 'Hexed' to be Previewed at Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026

The Parisian festival runs from June 21-27, 2026, and Disney will be previewing both Gatto and Hexed this year. In 2023, they debuted the Once Upon a Studio short at the festival and last year provided a first look at Toy Story 5.

Hexed

On Friday, June 26, Hexed will receive a first look for attendees at the festival. Hexed is set to be released on November 25, 2026, and will star Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones.

Hexed was announced at Destination D23 in 2025, though it seems the premise has changed course slightly, as it was said to star a teen boy but is actually starring a teen girl.

In the new animated film, an awkward and impulsive teenage girl discovers her secret magical abilities. That magic sends her on a journey into a witch realm called Hexe. She teams up with her type-A and cautious mother to uncover family mysteries that could change the world of witches.

The film is directed by Jason Hand and Josie Trinidad with Jared Bush as executive producer. Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones are producing.

Gatto

Gatto will also get a first look that day, following the preview of Hexed. This film is set to premiere on March 5, 2027. It centers on a black cat named Nero who is indebted to a feline mob boss.

In Gatto, Nero finds himself forced to forge an unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose. Luca director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren will bring Gatto back to Casarosa’s home country of Italy, where Luca also took place.

The movie will use a distinct hand-painted animation style, which is a first for Pixar.
