During CinemaCon today, April 16, it was announced that Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones will star in this year’s new film, Hexed.
Casting for Hexed
Protagonist Billie Doe will be played by Steinfeld, with Jones playing her mother. Previously unseen footage was shown today during CinemaCon, showing Billie taking a personality test, according to Deadline.
The film is directed by Jason Hand and Josie Trinidad with Jared Bush as executive producer. Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones are producing.
In August 2025, at the Walt Disney Studios Showcase Panel, a part of the Destination D23 event held at Walt Disney World, the new film was announced.
In the new animated film, an awkward and impulsive teenage girl discovers her secret magical abilities. That magic sends her on a journey into a witch realm called Hexe. She teams up with her type-A and cautious mother to uncover family mysteries that could change the world of witches.
Disney’s Hexed opens in theaters on November 25, 2026.
