Jennifer Hudson Returning to 'American Idol' for Disney Night

Former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson will be a guest judge and mentor on the singing competition’s upcoming Disney Night.

Disney Night will air on Monday, April 20. Hudson will join Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood to judge the season’s Top 9.

Hudson competed in the third season of American Idol in 2004, when she finished in seventh place. She last appeared on the show for a performance of “Trouble” with Iggy Azalea during season 14 in 2015.

This will be her first time mentoring contestants who will perform famous Disney songs as they vie for a spot in the Top 7.

Hudson’s career began on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder, where she performed as one of the Muses in Hercules. She was later dubbed the godparent of the Disney Dream.

Disney Night will air live on April 20 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
