As Disney shared early this morning, Mickey’s sorcerer hat now adorns the facade of The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We swung by the park to check out the new decoration ourselves.

The Magic of Disney Animation Sorcerer Hat

The reimagined facade is inspired by the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California. It also pays homage to the park’s former sorcerer hat icon, which sat in front of the Chinese Theatre.

The giant hat sits atop the entrance marquee, which is not completed. Crews have been working on the overhang over the past several weeks, as well as repainting the building.

And below is what the building looked like as Star Wars: Launch Bay and as the original version of The Magic of Disney Animation.

Animation Courtyard is becoming the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, including character autographs and handprints in the pavement. Inside The Magic of Disney animation, guests will encounter characters, learn to draw with Olaf (instead of live artists), and play on an Alice in Wonderland playground.

Next door will be the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, set to open with the courtyard on May 26. Disney has not announced an opening date for The Magic of Disney Animation but it is scheduled to open this summer.
