After being number 1 in the box office for its opening weekend last weekend, The Mandalorian and Grogu is now clinging to the third place spot on its second weekend in theaters.
Box Office Numbers

Still tracking as the lowest-grossing Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu has fallen even further down the box office top ranks. According to Deadline, Backrooms has scored the number 1 domestic box office spot for the weekend and earned an A24 record for an opening. Thus far, the film has racked up $81.4 million at the domestic box office.
Obsession has dropped to the number 2 spot with a $26.4 million domestic box office take so far this weekend, and The Mandalorian and Grogu fell to $25 million. Per the outlet, that domestic box office gross is a 69% drop-off from the Star Wars film’s first weekend, which was even larger than the Solo: A Star Wars Story second weekend, which fell 65%.
Obsession Overtakes Mandalorian and Grogu

Earlier this week, on Friday, we reported that The Mandalorian and Grogu lost its number 1 box office spot to the low-budget horror film Obsession. This triumph of a small film was more surprising because it was only released in 2,655 theaters nationwide, while Mando and Grogu’s story was being shown in 4,300.
The Obsession takeover even carried over to critic and audience scores, according to aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The Mandalorian and Grogu, with 275 reviews, has a 62% critic score and an 88% audience score. Whereas Obsession, with 231 reviews, is sitting pretty at a 96% critics’ score and a 94% audience score.
