Disney Promises Possums are Returning to Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom

Disney has promised that the possums are returning to Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom. They used to dangle from a tree about halfway through the ride but were removed during the ride’s extensive refurbishment.

Possums Will Return

The possums, which hung by their tails from a tree’s branches, were removed during refurbishment and did not return with the attraction’s reopening earlier this month.

There was a safety clearance issue when Disney tested the ride envelope. A ride envelope is the three-dimensional safety zone that encompasses a ride vehicle and its passengers. It accounts for the maximum reach of the tallest riders to guarantee no one can touch any part of the ride elements like scenery or track supports.

In this case, the possums breached this safety zone, and Disney did not have time to correct the issue in time. They are expected to return in the near future.
