Latest Episode of 'Imagineer That!' Showcases How Audio-Animatronics are Kept Show Ready

How do Walt Disney Imagineers keep Audio-Animatronics looking fresh and show-ready each and every day? The last episode of “Imagineer That!” gives viewers an inside look at how that happens.

“Imagineer That!”

Animatronic Country Bear performers, including Teddi Barra, star in a colorful Musical Jamboree onstage.

The Country Bears, specifically Trixie, are the specific focus of the episode, and Britney shares that she analyzes their animation, their figure finishing, costumes, cosmetology, and range of motion to make sure everything is working properly.

“My job as an art director for show quality…I come through, I do show reviews. We’re looking for details to make sure that our country bears are show-ready every day, just like day one. I work with multiple artists who paint these figures, fur them. Costumers replace her outfits and keep her looking fresh every day. Her outfits get laundered and everything. She gets her nails refreshed, repainted, re-glittered.”

Other “Imagineer That” episodes explore the careful orchestration behind Disney’s audiovisual spectaculars and how Imagineers are able to make things in the Disney Parks look old and creepy.

Imagineer That! originally aired on Disney Channel between 1999 and 2001. The series was hosted by the mascot of Innoventions in EPCOT, robotic Tom Morrow 2.0. Guests could meet Tom Morrow in person until he was removed in 2007.
