TRON Lightcycle Run and Space Mountain are now letting guests utilizing rider swap walk through the queue with their entire party before separating.
New Rider Swap Procedure at Magic Kingdom

Rider swap allows adult guests to take turns waiting with kids or other guests who are unable to ride an attraction. At most rides throughout Walt Disney World, the waiting adult and kids who don’t meet the height requirement have to remain outside. Adults who don’t wish to ride but do meet the height requirement have always been able to walk the queue and separate from their party before boarding.
Now, TRON Lightcycle Run and Space Mountain are allowing kids to walk through the queue with their adults even if they don’t meet the height requirement. One adult then gets to board the ride. The waiting adult and kids remain in a designated indoor area until the first adult is done riding.

The new procedure allows the entire family to stay together as much as possible and for non-riders to enjoy the queue.
This internal rider swap isn’t mandatory, however. If the waiting members of the party want to remain outside and explore the park instead, they can do so. In that case, the waiting adult gets a Lightning Lane pass to skip the queue when the first rider returns.
At TRON Lightcycle Run, cast members said the change was still testing. Cast members at Space Mountain said they intend to keep the procedure permanently.
We checked at other rides to see if the option is being tested anywhere else. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train cast members said they sometimes allow internal rider switch at the end of the night. But all other attractions cast members we spoke to said they do not currently allow internal rider switch for guests under the height requirement.
