Monsters, Inc. Coaster Construction

More steel structures have popped up for the future Monsters, Inc. door coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Construction is still in the early stages.

Installation of tall black coaster supports began in early February and continue. Compared to our last update, there are a few more horizontal beams in place. We also noticed some X-shaped beams are in place towards the top of some of the vertical columns.

We saw a crew member in a lift working on one of those structures.

Monstropolis takes over the former Muppets Courtyard. The door coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster and first vertical lift coaster. The ride is being built in a cast member parking lot adjacent to the former Muppets Courtyard.

The coaster will be brand new to the area, but other Muppets Courtyard/Grand Avenue structures will be reused. Mama Melrose’s will become Harryhausen’s, a restaurant visited by characters in the first Monsters, Inc. PizzeRizzo will likely be a new quick-service restaurant. Disney has not announced what will go in the MuppetVision 3D theater.

Check out more Monstropolis construction updates.
