Two weeks out from the expected opening of Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, Disney’s Hollywood Studios now has new movie billboards in the area.
New Movie Billboards

Last week, the Stage 1 and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live sign went up. Now, movie billboards are joining the party. Several new billboards are installed or in the process of being installed around the courtyard. The imagery is from different eras of Disney animation.

The Walt Disney Studios Silly Symphony mural on the side of the wall, which we covered in late April, is an homage to the billboard above the original Hyperion Studio. Hyperion was founded by Walt and Roy Disney and eventually renamed to The Walt Disney Studio. Hyperion is where Mickey Mouse really came to life, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was created.

One of the billboards is for Disney’s 1955 classic Lady and the Tramp. In bright yellow, Lady and Tramp appear to be leaping off the poster. It reads: “It’s the doggone happiest! Walt Disney presents Lady and the Tramp. She’s from the leash and license set…. he’s footloose and collar free.”

Another seemingly completed billboard is from 2010’s Tangled. It shows Flynn Rider holding Rapunzel as they swing from her hair. They, too, appear to be leaving the confines of the poster.

Two more empty frames are installed near the “Stage 1” signage. As they are bare bones, it is not clear yet what they will be. The street sign was just added on May 11.
