As we previously reported, the new Sorcerer Mickey hat in Disney’s Hollywood Studios lights up. Now that the reimagined Animation Courtyard is open, we got to see the light show up close.

Sorcerer Mickey Hat Light Show

The hat lights up in different patterns every two minutes. The small show isn’t set to special music, but we did notice that background sounds of birds are replaced with crickets in the evening. That’s on top of the music loop of classic Disney songs.

The lights sometimes light up in waves, as though Tinker Bell is sprinkling pixie dust across the hat.

Inspired by the Roy E. Disney Animation Building, the hat sits on the facade of The Magic of Disney Animation, which will open later this year. The courtyard also includes the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
