Universal Shares New Reopening Timeline for Reimagined Horror Make-Up Show

Universal Orlando’s’ Horror Make-Up Show closes tomorrow, May 12. While Universal announced the attraction will reopen in late 2026, there is now a new reopening timeline.

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show Being Reimagined

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show Closing This Month, “Reimagined” Show Coming Later 2026

The show is set to open in Winter 2026 “featuring classic and modern horror properties along with shockingly fun surprises – all while staying true to the comedic and irreverent vibe that guests love.”

The show’s closure was delayed from January to May, and Universal originally shared that it would reopen in late 2026. While Winter 2026 is still in the same general range, this does give us a bit more context into the reopening timeline. This also gives Universal some leeway to open early in 2027, but 2026 still generally indicates it will reopen later this year.

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is an audience participation show that takes place in the Pantages Theater in the Hollywood section of Universal Studios Florida. After browsing a prop-filled lobby, guests step inside a “make-up studio” to watch two hosts recreate different special effects and make-up from Universal horror films.

A reimagining of the show with “classic and modern horror properties” may mean it would include newer properties like Terrifier or Blumhouse franchises. Right now, the most recent clips featured in the show are from the 2017 The Mummy.
