First Night Festival Coming to Universal Studios Japan

As part of the 25th anniversary celebration at Universal Studios Japan, the park is hosting a limited-time Universal Summer Matsuri Nights: Neon Glow Up nighttime event. The after-hours event will be limited to 1,500 guests.

The event runs on select nights from July 1 to August 25, 2026. As a note, there will not be an event on August 21.) It runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Ticket options for this Night Festival are:

  • Twilight Pass: ¥6,200 for adults or ¥4,000 for kids – entry after 3 p.m.
  • Twilight Pass: ¥5,300 for adults or ¥3,400 for kids – entry after 5 p.m.
  • Summer Experience Package: ¥5,650 – access to the special viewing area, themed food, and an Express Pass for select attractions
  • Summer Season Pass: ¥14,500 for adults or ¥9,900 for kids – unlimited entry anytime after 3 p.m. on any day between July 1 and August 31, 2026

Neon Glow Up

This limited-capacity night festival includes special entertainment, food, and merchandise options featuring characters from Sesame Street, My Melody, Kuromi, Woody and Winnie Woodpecker, and others.

One of the new shows for the festival includes NO LIMIT! Grow Up Oh! Matsuri. Featuring several of the characters mentioned above includes dance performances and music from music producer/DJ tofubeats. There are also bubble and water effects.

You can purchase a Special Viewing Area Admission Ticket for ¥1,700. The special viewing area is the wet zone; you will get drenched.

Minion BOO-YA Block Party”

Over at Mel's Stage in the Hollywood area is a new street show called Minion BOO-YA Block Party where guests can join a Minion dance party. DJ Stuart will play retro and pop music to get the BOO-YA Dance going.

Oh! Matsuri Food & Games is the night festival’s food and game offerings. This includes a Universal Market, which is lined with food carts. Some of the specialty food carts include:

The festival also includes glowing accessories like a neon cup and Glowing! Bottle Strap. You’ll find the cup at Mel’s Drive-In and the strap at Louie’s N.Y. Pizza Parlor.

Games

At Festival in the Park, you can enjoy a game of Goblet Lob. Toss a ball into one of the colorful holes and win a prize. Even if you don’t win, you’ll still receive a limited-edition button badge from the 25th anniversary.

Prizes include specialty items that can be changed without notice. Prizes are not available for sale.

Merchandise

Some of the event merchandise includes this fan-shaped penlight, which is one way to groove along in the dark to the music or wave to the performers.
