First Track Raised for 'Monsters, Inc.' Door Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The first piece of roller-coaster track for the new Monsters, Inc. door ride has now been raised for installation. This appears to be the first section that will be placed. The coaster is part of the new Monstropolis under construction at the park.

We have spotted several coaster track pieces on the ground from the Disney Skyliner, in a staging area where we’ve also seen coaster supports. Now, what we believe to be the very piece of track has been raised for possible installation.

Yesterday, aerial photographer bioreconstruct took a photo of the track staged on the ground, pictured above with a yellow arrow. Check out more photos from that update.

The massive steel frame of the ride’s show building has been progressively rising over the past several weeks. It takes up a large piece of land in a Cast Member parking lot right behind the former Muppets Courtyard.

The ride will be Disney’s first vertical-launch and first suspended coaster. Guests will travel into the famous door vault seen in the first Monsters, Inc. film.

The land will also feature Harryhausen’s, which replaces Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and The Glob theater replacing MuppetVision 3D. More details about these offerings are expected at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Recently, Disney seemingly confirmed the name of the land alongside details of the backstory.
