Guest Obstacle Sign Added to Fireworks Observation Deck Gate

After Disney added multiple gates on the fourth floor observation deck of Disney’s Contemporary Resort in an effort to prevent guests from accessing higher level landings, they have now added more obstacle signage. These are likely an additional deterrent to indicate to guests that they are not supposed to climb over the gate.

The fourth floor observation deck is considered a not-so-hidden-gem location for Magic Kingdom fireworks viewing. People also use the fourth floor to go up the stairs and watch fireworks from different landings, as well as the roof observation deck at California Grill.

After Disney added multiple gates on the fourth floor observation deck of Disney’s Contemporary Resort in an effort to prevent guests from accessing higher level landings, they have now added obstacle signs.

The resort recently installed gates in order to prevent guests from accessing higher levels above the fourth floor. However, it appears maybe guests may still be attempting to climb over the gates, as Disney has now added an additional metal sign a few feet above the gates.

There are multiple gates now installed on the fourth floor balcony of Disney's Contemporary Resort in an effort to prevent guests from using the fireworks observation deck.

For reference, pictured above is what the gates looked like when they were first installed in May 2026.

Last month, Disney Cast Members confirmed with WDWNT that the stairwells are supposed to remain clear for emergencies.

There are two gates—one on each stairwell leading to the observation deck.
