Hawaiian Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, revealed the new Moana-themed designs on the Airbus A321neo (N227HA). In July, the remaining two designs will be used on an A330 (Hawaiian Airlines’ flagship transpacific aircraft) and a Boeing 717 (flies between the Hawaiian Islands).

The new livery on the plane features live-action Maui’s hawk form flying amongst blue swirls and the Hawaiian Airlines’ logos.

“Voyage beyond the reef” and the Moana logo have been added to the side of the plane and the engines.

Maui’s fishhook has been prominently displayed on the side of the plane as well, showing a close-up look at the intricate carving details on the hook.

The Moana livery continues inside with overhead luggage bin decorations featuring characters like the Kakamora, Hei Hei, and Pua.

Alisha Onishi, managing director of Hawai’i Marketing for Hawaiian Airlines, shared that, “Voyaging is at the heart of who we are as the airline of Hawai’i, a place grounded in a legacy that began with navigators who crossed the Pacific using traditional wayfinding techniques. We’re proud to continue carrying that spirit forward and bring Moana’s journey to life once again as we connect our island home to the world.”

Other Disney-themed airplane liveries that have been unveiled recently are themed to The Mandalorian and Grogu and Toy Story 5.

In Moana, Disney’s live-action reimagining of the Oscar-nominated animated movie, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on a journey to restore prosperity to her people.

The film is directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail (Hamilton); produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and executive produced by Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, and Auliʻi Cravalho (the original voice of Moana in the animated films Moana and Moana 2).

Moana features original songs by Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina, and an original score composed by Mancina. Johnson has also previously shared his thoughts about heritage and supporting women while performing as Maui.

AMC theater treats and novelties, including a glow-in-the-dark Heart of Te Fiti bag charm, have also just been announced.

Moana releases in theaters on July 10, 2026.
