Heat Advisory & Severe Storm Risk for Second Day in a Row at Disney World and Universal Orlando

The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida has issued another Heat Advisory for East and Central Florida today, June 19. The first was issued yesterday.

The Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It includes Orange County and Osceola County, homes of Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. It's a Level 3 Heat Risk and affects anyone without adequate cooling/hydration.

Heat index values between 105° and 110° F are expected, with actual high temps from the mid to upper 90s.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Residents and visitors should drink plenty of fluids, say in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and take extra precautions if they are outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.

There may also be severe storms in the afternoon and evening between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for all of East Central Florida. This may include isolated damaging wind guests up to 60 mph, heavy rainfall leading to minor flooding, and hail up 1". The threat for a brief tornado is very small but cannot be ruled out.

Signs of heat stroke include confusion, dizziness, and unconsciousness. Heat stroke is a serious emergency and you should call 911 if someone shows symptoms.
