Moat Filling Continues at Cinderella Castle, Tomorrowland Area Shows Significant Progress

As we indicated yesterday, moat filling is in progress at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom. The moat filling is one of the final steps to the repainting project at the castle, and there has been significant progress on the Tomorrowland side of the moat.

Moat Refilling

We noticed water being pumped into the moat on the Liberty Square side of the castle yesterday morning, June 1. At the time of our visit, the majority of the Tomorrowland side was still empty. As of this morning, however, it appears to be nearly finished refilling.

Other areas of the moat are also still well on their way to being refilled. Above, we can see that the far left side of the castle moat has risen quite a bit from our check in yesterday.

The Adventureland side of the moat does appear to be quite a bit lower than the other areas so far in the refill project.

We anticipate that the moat refilling will take a few more days. The concrete bank is approximately the waterline of the moat.

The moat was drained back in February as the castle was restored to its original color scheme. Disney said two weeks ago that the painting project was “almost complete.”
