Cinderella Castle Moat Refilling

Disney crews have started refilling the moat around Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom with water. This marks the apparent completion of the castle's repainting project.

Water was actively being pumped into the moat on the Liberty Square side of the castle Monday morning, June 1. A few inches of water had already accumulated by 9 a.m.

Disney crews have started refilling the moat around Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom with water. This marks the apparent completion of the castle's repainting project.

The moat was drained back in February as the castle was restored to its original color scheme. Disney said two weeks ago that the painting project was “almost complete.”

The water is trickling over to the Tomorrowland side of the moat, too. Disney also took the time to finish repainting the Tomorrowland entrance rocks while the moat was empty.

It may be a few more days until the moat is fully refilled. The height of the concrete bank walls is the approximate intended height of the water.
