After a delay, Universal Mega Movie Parade soft opened at Universal Studios Florida last week and is now officially back on the calendar. The parade features classic Universal IPs like Jurassic Park and E.T. as well as newer franchises like Sing and Kung Fu Panda.
Universal Mega Movie Parade debuted in technical rehearsals at Universal Studios Florida in the summer of 2024. It has been plagued by issues like missing units and floats. In its first year, a Jurassic Park float and the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 vehicle didn’t join the fleet until months later.
This year, two whole units and other elements are missing.

The parade opens with dancers in shiny tops and blue bottoms. They are usually followed by a Universal Mega Movie Parade title float, but this wasn’t part of the parade when we watched it on Wednesday.

The first IP unit is Back to the Future. Dancers and skateboarders inspired by the second film in the series lead a float featuring the DeLorean.

On the float is Doc Brown. Marty McFly was absent at our viewing.

On the front of the float is the flux capacitor, which makes time travel possible. On the sides are the time circuits and the Lone Pine Mall sign.

The back of the float is the Hill Valley city hall building, including the clock tower being struck by lightning. The “OUTATIME” license plate is below.

Next up is the Sing unit, led by dancers in colorful tracksuits. On the float are Gunter the pig and Johnny the gorilla.

Rosita the pig has historically also appeared on the float but, like Marty, was missing this week.

Various other Sing characters appear on the float as static statues.
Usually, the Minions unit would be next, but it’s completely missing.

Instead, the parade heads straight into Kung Fu Panda — which was actually missing when the parade debuted last year. It returned later in the season.

On the temple-inspired float are Po and Tigress.
The Trolls unit that’s supposed to follow Kung Fu Panda is also gone. It was also missing early during the parade’s run last year.

The Ghostbusters unit is intact, including the Ecto-1. Mini-Pufts are climbing all over the vehicle.

Walking on the street are various Ghostbusters characters.

On the float is Gozer in a gateway in front of the 16-foot tall Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

While Spengler and Zeddemore walk, Venkman and Stantz are on the float battling Gozer.

Ghostbusters is followed by E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial with performers on bikes gliding in front of the unit. More “kids” on “flying” bikes are on the float, which features a small house and forest.

Elliott flies at the front of the float with E.T. in his bike’s basket. The famous image of the moon is among the trees.

E.T.’s spaceship is in the forest at the back of the float.

Celebrate Independence Day with Jaws. Sheriff Brody and the mayor of Amity lead this unit, followed by 4th of July stilt walkers, baton twirlers, and drummers.

The infamous shark is the centerpiece of the unit’s float, bursting through Quint’s boat, the Orca.

Quint himself is at the back of the boat, hanging on for dear life.

The Jurassic Park / Jurassic World unit begins with a gyrosphere float carrying Claire Dearing and Franklin Webb.

They’re followed by the raptor paddock, which also features a Dilophosaurus on the side.

Owen Grady is on a ramp on the back of the float, keeping an eye on the Velociraptors.

The final float of the parade depicts a giant T. rex roaring over a crushed Jurassic World vehicle.
Universal Parade Times

The parade is scheduled daily through August 23. Though historically an afternoon parade, it will perform at 7 p.m. most dates this summer, and at 6 p.m. on June 12, August 15, and August 16.
