Possible spoilers ahead

  • “It’s a sublime summing up, a movie that reflects the whole series in its magic mirror, and (just maybe) a perfect ending.” – Owen Gleiberman, Variety
  • “While Toy Story 5 may fall short of essential, in an age in which children’s entertainment routinely panders to its audience, there is something quietly radical about a film that is willing to worry for them.” – Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph (UK)
  • “The studio naturally holds back from portraying Lily as an all-out villain — more a misguided soul, merely concerned with what’s best for Bonnie. But the film fails to drum up any kind of meaningful conclusion on the matter, even if it’s a nuanced one.” – Clarisse Loughrey, Independent (UK)
  • “We’re losing something uniquely human between tabs, under signal strength, and over social content. Toy Story 5 hopes to claw us back to reality.” – Robert Daniels, RogerEbert.com

The latest film in the Toy Story franchise involves Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang being challenged when “they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today… electronics!”

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack return for their respective roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie. New characters Lilypad (Greta Lee) and Smarty Pants (Conan O’Brien) also join the cast.

Ernie Hudson is taking over as Combat Carl from the late Carl Weathers. Blake Clark is expected to return as Slinky Dog, a role he took over from Jim Varney, who passed away in 2000. We also learned that Alan Cumming voices Evil Bullseye, Bad Bunny voices Pizza with Sunglasses, and Jessie’s original owner, Emily, will be making an appearance.
