12th Earl of Sandwich Attends Grand Opening of New Restaurant at Downtown Disney District

The new Earl of Sandwich location at Downtown Disney District hosted their grand opening on Wednesday morning, July 15. It was attended by the 12th Earl of Sandwich. The restaurant soft opened in late June and the adjacent Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby opened on Monday.

Earl of Sandwich was founded in Orlando, Florida in 2004 by entrepreneur Robert Earl in partnership with the Montagu family, including 11th Earl of Sandwich John Montagu and his son. The 4th Earl of Sandwich was the namesake of the famous dish.

The new Earl of Sandwich location at Downtown Disney District hosted their grand opening on Wednesday morning, July 15.

The Honorable Luke Montagu, the 12th Earl of Sandwich and John Montagu’s eldest son, traveled with his family to Anaheim for the grand opening ceremony.

He made remarks about the new restaurant and shook hands with Mickey Mouse.

Also present was Robert Earl, founder of Earl of Sandwich.

“We didn’t want to simply build another Earl of Sandwich. We wanted to create a destination worthy of the Downtown Disney District,” said Earl. “Earl of Sandwich has always been rooted in a remarkable story, but history alone isn’t enough. As Downtown Disney enters an exciting new chapter, we saw an opportunity to reimagine what Earl of Sandwich could be alongside it. This new location honors our heritage while creating moments of discovery around every corner, all while delivering the quality, exceptional value, and hospitality our guests have come to expect from us.”

Jason Smith (Vice President, Hotel Operations & Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort) and Michele Mary (Disney Ambassador of Disneyland Resort) were also present for ceremony.

The brand promises this new location will be their largest and most immersive restaurant experience to date. In addition to their world-famous sandwiches, the venue introduces The Carvery, a centerpiece experience where premium pastrami is served fresh in view of guests.

Guests can also enjoy cookies loaded with toppings, cinnamon rolls, and rotating seasonal specialties from the bakery. The Pub, located inside, offers draft beers, wines, frozen cocktails, and seasonal beverages.

Earl of Sandwich is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
