This was a fun one to write, and I’m excited for fellow parents to read it to their small fry. I know I can’t wait to read it to mine. And the art! My word. Like the ride itself, Stefano’s artwork is truly breathtaking.
Like so many other fans, Big Thunder was a ride of passage for me. I remember the first time I watched that little engine dart into that dark, narrow cave, I quietly wondered, Can I really do this? The speed, the dark, the screams all had my body buzzin’ with adrenaline, and every instinct was telling me, Nope. No way. You absolutely cannot.
But I did. And it’s been one of my favorite rides ever since.
Versions of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad operate at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. The Magic Kingdom version recently went through an extensive refurbishment, getting all-new track and other upgrades. Watch our POV video below.
