Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas has announced a Resident Evil Takeover for their summer season.

The Resident Evil Takeover “will transform Universal Horror Unleashed into a living nightmare, complete with iconic sets and characters from the games, interactive puzzles, and themed food and beverage.”

The event will run from July 9 through August 30, 2026, and is included in a Universal Horror Unleashed ticket.

The venue’s four haunted houses will operate as normal.

Universal Horror Unleashed will be split into six zones inspired by the Resident Evil franchise.

Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas has announced a Resident Evil Takeover for their summer season.

Zone 1: Arrival
Beginning your journey at the battered “Welcome to Raccoon City” sign. Emergency lights flash as police scramble to contain the rapidly spreading outbreak caused by Umbrella Corporation’s T-Virus.

Zone 2: Mission
Report to the Raccoon City Police Department. Here, you’ll receive a mission assignment through a series of interactive puzzles.

On repeat visits, you can choose to be assigned to a new faction for a different mission experience.

Zone 3: Infection
In a race against the clock, enter the heart of the infected zone – a quarantined spot in Raccoon City where the last remaining citizens have transformed into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies.

Zone 4: Combat
Join the fight alongside iconic heroes including Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon S. Kennedy. As terror turns into adrenaline, witness battles between heroic characters, surrounding zombies, and notorious villains like Chainsaw Men and Nemesis. Once the dust settles, take photos and interact with the characters.

You’ll encounter different heroes in the combat zone upon return visits.

Zone 5: Escape
Enter the final stretch of their journey and survive the final mission.

Zone 6: Aftermath
If you make it out, enter Umbrella Corporation’s aftermath zone. Here, you can dine on limited-time themed food and cocktails inspired by the T-Virus and its mutations. The menu includes:

  • Jill Sandwich: Brioche, hickory smoked bacon, bibb lettuce, heirloom tomato chutney, avocado mousse, and black garlic aioli served on a medical-grade surgical tray.
  • The Sewer Special: Beer-battered cod, cajun fries, house tartar, and lemon sofrito served on a medical-grade surgical tray.
  • Brain Freeze: Ube gelato, mango gelee, chocolate feuilletine, raspberry sauce, coco nibs, and chocolate shard served in a souvenir beaker
  • The Umbrella: Tequila, pineapple thai chili syrup, lime juice, grapefruit soda, garnished with a “rotten” pineapple and umbrella

Universal also teased secret menu items in other areas, too. If you keep your eyes and ears peeled throughout the experience, you might discover a secret code to share with a bartender to unlock a secret drink menu.

Exclusive Resident Evil merchandise will also be available. Entertainment producer Kevin Katan teased a secret code for a discount in the retail shop.

The experience was designed with a linear story but once your mission ends, you’re free to explore at your own pace.

The Resident Evil Takeover was made possible by a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan, where Resident Evil (a.k.a. Biohazard) has appeared for several years.

“It’s been a really nice collaboration with the [USJ] team,” Katan told Discover Universal Blog. “We’re getting costumes from them, which is amazing. They’ve been so helpful with getting us the things we need to really support this project.”

“We’re even working with Universal Studios Hollywood to provide some scenic elements from previous [haunted] houses that can work within our space as well,” said Del Wynegar, assistant director of entertainment. “It’s really great to tap into those resources, because we are one big family.”
