Though there’s still a lot of construction work to be done in the new Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, some landscaping is already underway near one of its entrances.

Tropical Americas Landscaping

In our update earlier this week, we noted new concrete elements in this area. Now a freshly-planted tree pokes through one of those concrete walls. For reference, below is a photo from the same approximate vantage point taken just a day earlier.

The red-orange net fencing that led up to the wall has been removed and there are more construction vehicles in the area. You may also notice the dirt around the walls has been turned over.

There are now large dirt piles next to the walls.

Tall columns nearby are believed to be the beginnings of an entrance structure but they don’t appear in concept art. The short walls, however, appear to correspond to archway elements on the Tropical Americas model.

You can see those archways near the bottom of our photo above. They are along a main thoroughfare through the land that is surrounded by trees.

This is the northern entrance to the land, approximately where the Cementosaurus used to be in DinoLand U.S.A. The main entrance from Discovery Island will be to the west.

Tropical Americas includes a carousel of wood-carved Disney characters, an Encanto ride, and an Indiana Jones ride (formerly DINOSAUR). It’s scheduled to open in 2027.
