Disney Jr.’s youngest armored heroes have reached the end of their first season of content and will now evolve into Marvel’s Avengers: Mightiest Friends, as planned.
Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends co-executive producer James Eason-Garcia has announced that production on the Disney Jr. animated series has concluded.
“And that’s a wrap,” Eason-Garcia wrote in an Instagram post, reflecting on the four-year journey that began when he started developing his pitch for an Iron Man preschool series in February 2022. Eason-Garcia expressed deep thanks to the team behind the series and expressed his optimism for the future, sharing:
It’s a bittersweet day for sure, but I’m excited to see what new challenges there are to tackle and all the cool people I will get to face them with in the future. There are still plenty of episodes left to be released so fans of the show have much more of this wonderful series left to enjoy. Normally Iron Man gets to say this on the show but since it’s my last day, I think it’s my turn: “Iron Friends…it’s time to Armor Up!”Now and forever! ❤️ #ironmanandhisawesomefriends
According to the post, the production team completed eighty 11-minute stories and twenty shorts centered on the Iron Friends and their collection of Marvel villains.
The preschool animated series premiered on Disney Jr. on August 11, 2025, followed by its Disney+ debut the next day. It introduced younger versions of Tony Stark, Riri Williams, and Amadeus Cho as Iron Man, Ironheart, and Iron Hulk, respectively.
Operating from a beachfront headquarters called Iron Quarters, the three young geniuses use specialized armored suits to solve problems and protect their city. Vision supervises the group, while their dog Gamma accompanies them in her own Iron Pup suit.
Blink-182 bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus co-wrote and performed the series’ theme song, “Totally Awesome.” Disney also supported the show with celebrity cameos, books, toys, and apparel.
The conclusion of Iron Man and His Awesome Friends will not mark the end of Disney Jr.’s young Tony Stark. Disney previously announced Marvel’s Avengers: Mightiest Friends, which the company described as an evolution of the Iron Man series.
Scheduled to debut on Disney Jr. and later Disney+ in 2027, the new series will unite kid versions of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Panther, Black Widow, and Thor. The young Avengers will work together against familiar Marvel villains. Several members of the Iron Man and His Awesome Friends production team are moving to the new project.
The characters have also crossed over with Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends in Marvel’s Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up! A second, Halloween-themed crossover special is scheduled for fall 2026.
