The first-ever regular Epic Universe fireworks show, Universal Celestial Goodnight, debuted on Tuesday, July 7. Before now, the park has only offered fireworks for a pre-opening media event and the Fourth of July.

Universal Celestial Goodnight Nighttime Spectacular

Celestial Goodnight expands upon the former Cosmos Fountain Show. Celestial Park comes alive with effects from one end of the park to the other, but the show is focused around the Universal Helios Grand Hotel. The fountain in front of the hotel shoots jets of water into the air, synchronized with music, lights, projections, and now fireworks!

The fireworks go off behind the hotel, which also now features projections for the first time. There are new spotlights mounted on the building and shining from behind it.

There are nearly 600 synchronized light fixtures, over 350 fountains, and seven million LED lights, set to music.

Sections of the show are dedicated to each world of Epic Universe: Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park. Music from the respective IPs plays alongside appropriate projections and fireworks.

Helios Grand Hotel guests can turn on the music of Celestial Goodnight via their in-room TV. Depending on what side of the hotel they’re on, they may get a view of the fountain or the fireworks.

The show acts as a finale for a park day, performing at 9 p.m. when the park closes. Small fountain shows continue to perform throughout the day.

Fireworks have been a long time coming for Epic Universe. Early concept art for the park included fireworks. A trademark filing revealed the name “Universal Celestial Goodnight” and audio testing at Epic Universe reportedly included the name, referring to the production as a fireworks spectacular.

Universal began hiring fireworks technicians a few months ago. They temporarily drained the Celestial Park fountain to prepare for the show and installed equipment at the fireworks launch peninsula.

Universal finally announced Celestial Goodnight in June 2026.
