Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland is experiencing unexpected downtime today, July 7. As far as we know, the ride did not open with the park at 8 a.m.

Pirates of the Caribbean Closed

As of 12:30 p.m., the ride remains closed. Cast Members are keeping guests entertained outside.

The closure comes after the debut of a new transforming pirate animatronic, which was installed during a two-month refurbishment of the ride.

Located in the Pirates Grotto, the figure’s face changes from living to skeletal in an endless curse. It replaced a static skeleton figure.

On July 4, however, the animatronic was not functioning and wore a physical skeleton mask. It was restored on July 5 but may still be causing issues.
