Demolition of the Poseidon’s Fury show building in The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure has begun. The attraction closed permanently over three years ago.

Poseidon’s Fury Demolition

Aerial photographer @bioreconstruct shared photos on X of the Poseidon’s Fury building now partially destroyed. While crews have been demolishing the attraction’s entrance plaza for weeks — including tearing down the giant trident — this is the first visible sign of the building’s demolition.

Three out of the five chambers that guests walked through have been destroyed: Holding Chamber, Ceremonial Chamber, and Chamber of Death. The Undiscovered Chamber and Chamber of Poseidon remain in the center of the building. The front of the building was the attraction’s queue.

Also still intact (for now) is the Vortex, a tunnel of spinning water and the most famous portion of the ride. In Bio’s photo above, you can see a half-circle structure near the ground. That’s the entrance to the Vortex.

Meanwhile, in front of the show building, one of Poseidon’s feet has been destroyed. The plaza featured giant statue pieces that appeared to be the remnants of an impressive Poseidon statue. Along with the foot, some of the rockwork and queue walls are gone.

Near the top of the photo, one of the braziers resembling a sea creature with wings has been removed from its pedestal and lies on its side nearby.

As we previously reported, the theater for The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad was completely destroyed, eight years after the show closed. Excavation is underway at the theater site, creating what looks like hills and a crater. We don’t know if this sculpting of the land will remain or is just coincidental.

Universal has not announced what will replace The Lost Continent.
