The new Universal Celestial Goodnight nighttime spectacular coming to Epic Universe tested on Monday night, July 6, without fireworks. The show will premiere on Tuesday, July 7.

Celestial Goodnight Testing

From our vantage point, we could see the color-changing projections on Celestial Park buildings, particularly Universal Helios Grand Hotel. The show looks nearly identical to the Cosmos Fountain Show but the hotel projections are new, as are spotlights shining from behind the hotel and the building itself. There may also be some projections added to the fountain itself.

Of course, the addition of fireworks is also new and Universal has tested fireworks in the park over the last few weeks. Epic Universe held Fourth of July fireworks this past weekend but Celestial Goodnight will be its first regular fireworks show.

Universal began hiring fireworks technicians this year and has been installing equipment along the park’s fireworks launch peninsula. They drained the Celestial Park fountain to prepare for the show.

We got our first hint at the show’s name from a trademark filing from last year. Then, audio testing at Epic Universe reportedly included the name “Universal Celestial Goodnight” and referred to the production as a fireworks spectacular.

Universal finally announced Celestial Goodnight last month.
