Between shopping at the Emporium and picking up treats at the Main Street Confectionery, Magic Kingdom guests can enjoy the story of “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” thanks to diorama window displays on the street.
“Mickey’s Christmas Carol” Window Displays
The dioramas have returned to the Emporium windows on Main Street, U.S.A. Each window features a different scene from “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” Disney’s 1983 animated adaptation of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol.”
The short film stars Scrooge McDuck as his namesake Ebenezer Scrooge, Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, Donald Duck as Scrooge’s nephew Fred, Goofy as Jacob Marley’s ghost, Jiminy Cricket as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Willie the Giant as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Pete as the Ghost of Christmas Future. Other characters with cameos include Daisy Duck, Minnie Mouse, and Mr. Toad.
The first diorama aptly depicts one of the first scenes from the animated film. Fred (Donald) enters the room with a wreath in hand as Bob Cratchit (Mickey) sits at a desk with a quill.
Scrooge stands in front of his desk. In this scene, Fred attempts to give his uncle the wreath as a gift. Scrooge refuses it and kicks Fred out, establishing his hatred for Christmas.
A quote from the film is written across a storybook that appears alongside a faux candle in front of the display.
The next diorama depicts a scene in which Scrooge is visited by Marley’s ghost (Goofy).
Marley is Scrooge’s former business partner. In this scene, he explains that he’s being punished in the afterlife for his wrongdoings while he was alive. He warns that Scrooge will face the same fate unless he changes his ways.
Scrooge appears frightened as Marley explains his punishment. It’s written out in a book in front of the display.
This diorama sees Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Past (Jiminy Cricket) peer through a window at a scene from Scrooge’s past.
Scrooge talks to his former lover Isabelle (Daisy). Huey, Dewey, and Louie decorate a Christmas tree in the background.
Dialogue from the film is written on the storybook in front of the display.
The next display features one of the most iconic scenes from the film, the sequence in which Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Present (Willie the Giant).
Scrooge peers through the blue curtains of his canopy bed. The Ghost of Christmas Present sits amongst a gluttonous collection of food, which he describes as “the food of generosity.”
The dialogue from this scene is written in the book in front of the window.
The next display depicts the scene in which the Ghost of Christmas Future (Pete) shows Scrooge his lonely grave.
Pete looks down as Scrooge slides into his grave. This is the scene that cements Scrooge’s decision to change his ways and understand the true meaning of Christmas.
The final lines of dialogue from the scene appear in the foreground book.
The last display showcases the final scene of the film.
Scrooge visits the Cratchit family home.
In this scene, Scrooge gives the family a bundle of toys and a Christmas meal. He also gives Cratchit a raise and makes him his business partner.

Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party began on November 9 and runs through December 22. During the after-hours party, guests can enjoy Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, character meet and greets, and holiday attraction overlays. There are also complimentary treats, special menu items, and exclusive merchandise.
The new “Frozen Holiday Surprise” Cinderella Castle show is performed at Magic Kingdom once during regular park hours and once during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Disney Jollywood Nights is a new separately ticketed, adults-centric party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It takes place on select nights from November 11 through December 20.
Entertainment includes the variety show “Disney Holidays in Hollywood,” “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along,” and the “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” nighttime spectacular. Character meet and greets include Mickey & Friends in new outfits and retro characters like Max in his Powerline garb, Chip ‘n’ Dale as the Rescue Rangers, Phineas and Ferb, and Edna Mode.
A Tip-Top Club-inspired soiree is held in the courtyard of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction. Several party-exclusive food and beverage options are also available, read our full guide to them here.
The roaming Merry Menagerie puppets have returned to Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays featuring holiday kitchens, storytellers, and the Candlelight Processional will run from November 24 to December 30, 2023.
At Disney Springs, guests can enjoy a Christmas Tree Stroll featuring new trees inspired by “Wish” and Disney Vacation Club. A new roaming character named Douglas Fir is a walking, moving tree.
