The Disney Treasure celebrated the completion of the ship’s exterior with the traditional “Float Out” ceremony at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
Disney Treasure Float Out
Disney marked the milestone with an update to the Ship’s Log:
Today at Meyer Werft Shipyard, the Disney Treasure floated out of the building to dock into the shipyard harbor. A scene of excitement greeted the ship, as a group of cheering spectators in Papenburg, Germany, gathered to watch the special construction milestone. The Float Out celebrates the completion of the ship’s exterior and is a significant maritime tradition.
A tugboat led the way, guiding the ship’s stern through the narrow doorway, which allowed for just three feet on either side of the vessel!
The Disney Treasure is now ready for finishing touches to its interior venues as it continues to prepare for its transatlantic journey to its future home port in Florida.
The stern of the Disney Treasure fittingly features Captain Hook and Peter Pan.
The float out was also livestreamed by Hamburg Port Live, as seen below. (Right before the 1:32:00 mark, the Treasure plays her horn to the melody of “When You Wish Upon a Star”).
The Disney Treasure is a Wish-class ship and the latest addition to the Disney Cruise Line Fleet. Its theme is “adventure,” and it features Voyager Minnie as its mascot (and captain). Offering dinner shows themed to “Coco” and “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix,” an “Aristocats” piano bar, and the first Haunted Mansion Parlor bar, the Treasure will make her maiden voyage on December 21, 2024. We’ve compiled a full guide of everything we know so far about the Disney Treasure.
